What if circularity actually scaled?

At The Fabric of Value, we open up the knowledge, data and network that is required to scale circular solutions. Today, we do not face a lack of technology or solutions, but of implementation and scale. Therefore, we provide access to capital, offtake agreements and the decision makers in the industry to implement innovation.

The reason for The FOV

Carl, you have built, scaled and exited four companies along the textile value chain. How come you started to switch roles and become an investor?

Actually, I am an entrepreneur at heart. After my exits, I started investing in companies and taking on some board roles. I was looking to scale my impact beyond one startup at the time.

Is that why you initiated CIRCULAR REPUBLIC?

Absolutely. It gave me the chance to become an ecosystem architect. As a non-profit we had the chance to orchestrate multi-stakeholder projects, work with incumbents and startups. In fact, CR is still part of Europe's largest entrepreneurship center with 300 startup foundations a year, raising $2.5bn every year. I am so proud of the impact our team creates there.

Why did you move to LA?

Today, I am active globally. LA is a great hub to be in right now. We have textile production, many local brands, an abundance of venture capital, supportive regulation and one of the world's largest consumer markets. LA also hosted the FIFA World Cup and LA28 Olympic Games which attracts a lot of business opportunities.

So why did you found The Fabric of Value?

At CAWA Ventures, we receive around 100 pitch decks a week. If a startups is outside our investment thesis, we offer advisory work. Not every company is able to take on 1:1 advisory. We wanted to create a platform that enables access to information, data and network for early stage companies. A community that can scale beyond our work at CAWA Ventures. At Fabric of Value we create content for venture capital in circular economy and consumer climate tech, we provide access to startup lists and investor networks, and we host a community of circular economy builders and investors.

For me, The Fabric of Value is the way to scale circular solutions.

The FOV ecosystem

At The Fabric of Value we connect insight, intelligence, community and advisory across the circular economy ecosystem. Emerging from CAWA Ventures, it makes our knowledge, network and experience accessible at different levels.
